Asset Inspection

Asset Inspection

Inspect any structure without scaffolding, ropes, or shutdowns.

Drone-based inspection of bridges, towers, silos, tanks, wind turbines, transmission lines, and industrial structures. Replace working-at-height risk with high-resolution imagery and engineering-grade reporting.

Overview

What you get when you engage Drone Inspect for asset inspection.

Inspecting a 60-metre telecommunications tower used to mean a rope-access team, a $30k mobilisation cost, and a half-day shutdown. A drone with a 200mm zoom lens captures every weld, bolt, and antenna mount in 45 minutes from a safe distance, with the asset still in service.

We work across telecommunications, water and wastewater, mining, energy, and transport infrastructure. Every inspection is captured to a defined methodology, with imagery indexed to asset register IDs so findings flow directly into client maintenance management systems.

For asset owners and infrastructure operators, drone inspection means faster reporting cycles, dramatically lower safety risk, and the ability to inspect assets that previously got skipped because the cost or shutdown impact was too high.

Capabilities

What is included in every asset inspection engagement.

Telecommunications Towers

Antenna mount integrity, lightning conductor condition, climbing fixture corrosion, and structural weld inspection. Compatible with NBN, Telstra, Optus, TPG asset register formats.

Bridges & Civil Structures

Concrete spalling, rebar exposure, bearing pad condition, expansion joint integrity, and waterway scour. Compliant with Austroads bridge inspection methodology.

Tanks, Silos & Pressure Vessels

External corrosion mapping, weld inspection, ladder/platform condition, vent and relief device inspection. Internal inspection available with confined-space drones.

Transmission Lines & Pylons

Conductor condition, insulator inspection, vegetation encroachment, and pylon corrosion. Multi-spectral capture for partial discharge and thermal hotspot detection.

Wind Turbines

Blade leading-edge erosion, lightning strike damage, surface delamination, and tower bolt inspection. RGB + thermal capture per IEC 61400-12 guidance.

Industrial Plant

Refinery flares, cooling towers, conveyor structures, and process equipment. We work in active operating environments under client HSE plans.

FAQ

Common questions about asset inspection.

Can drone inspection replace a rope-access inspection?

For visual condition assessment, yes. Drone imagery at 200mm focal length matches what a hands-on inspector sees from arms length. Where physical testing is required (hammer sounding, ultrasonic thickness, bolt torque verification), drone is used as the screening tool to identify which exact locations need follow-up rope access — typically reducing rope-access scope by 70 to 90 percent.

Do you work in confined spaces or restricted airspace?

Yes. We operate confined-space drones (Elios 3, Skydio X10D) inside tanks, silos, sewer chambers, and process vessels under controlled-access conditions. For restricted airspace (near airports, military zones, controlled airspace) we obtain CASA Area Approval per case. Mobile substations, refineries, and ports require client HSE induction which we complete as standard.

What deliverables do asset inspections include?

Standard package includes: full inspection imagery indexed to asset register, condition assessment report against client severity scale (typically 1 to 5 or A to E), defect register with photos and recommended actions, raw and processed imagery library, and orthomosaic or 3D model where useful. We also integrate with Esri ArcGIS, IBM Maximo, and Pulse asset management systems on request.
